Delete Duplicate Photos with PictureEcho
PictureEcho is a digitally protected software by our company, Sorcim
While you experiment with the endless possibilities that the tool offers, it is possible that you might end up saving several copies of an image, thus accumulating similar or duplicate images on your computer. Although Luminar AI is an outstanding tool, it does not come with a built in feature to detect duplicates on your computer. These duplicates can not only waste precious storage space but can also slow down your computer. To avoid this, we recommend you always get rid of duplicate photos on a regular basis. Since manually looking for and deleting duplicate photos is a tedious task, we recommend you use an automated tool like PictureEcho.
Using PictureEcho is as easy as a breeze. After installing and setting up the tool, you have to follow a few basic steps.
1. Add Path
Click on the Add Path button and load the path to the folder where your edited photos are saved.
2. Set a Search Criteria
Now you can decide whether you want PictureEcho to look for Exact Match or Similar Match. You can also set a Similarity Threshold. The default value is 80%. Moreover you can also include or exclude certain file types. To do so, head over to the Included Extensions tab under the Similarity Settings. PictureEcho supports various image file types including:
- JPEG (JPG, JPE, JPEG, JFIF)
- PNG
- TIFF (TIF, TIFF)
- GIF
- Bitmap (DIB, BMP)
- Icon (ICO)
3. Begin the Scan
Once you have set the search criteria, hit the Start Search button. Within a few seconds, PictureEcho will show you a brief report regarding the scan results. Here, you will be able to see the number of duplicates detected as well as the total space they are occupying.
4. Select Duplicates
Click the OK button and now you will be seeing a list of all detected duplicate or similar images. Here you can decide which of the duplicates you wish to keep and which ones you want to permanently delete or relocate.
After clicking on the Select Duplicates option, you can choose from a bunch of pre-designed filters to select duplicates. These filters include file size (smallest/ largest), image resolution (lowest/ highest), creation date (newest/ oldest), and file location. Alternatively, you can also manually select the duplicates from the results interface by clicking the checkbox for each image you want to select.
5. Select Action
Next, by clicking on the Select Action button, you can either move the selected duplicates to a folder of your choice or permanently delete them.
And that’s all! With just five simple steps, PictureEcho can let you detect thousands of duplicate files generated by Luminar AI, and clean them up!
